The Berry Smoothie — Pages 57 & 58Sweet, filling, drink all you want and still lose weight, burn fat, and get healthy. Nutrient dense and packed with disease fighting antioxidants, the Smoothie is low in calories, inexpensive, and easy to prepare. This recipe makes 1-1/2 to 2 quarts—that's half a gallon—and often I'll drink the entire thing, though I drink, sip, drink for an hour or more. The blender shown is a 40-year-old machine that—if you look closely—has the writing worn off the buttons. No need for new or fancy equipment, just a run-of-the-mill blender. Best of all, it's a great way to make use of close-to-spoiling fruits. Peaches or bananas getting soft? Blueberries or strawberries been sitting too long? Cut them up and freeze them for a smoothie. Store half the smoothie in the refrigerator for the next day, if you'd like. Great for your kids, too, or anyone whether dieting and interested in losing fat... or not. |
